Niels Klavers spring / summer 1999
Dutch designers Niels Klavers and Astrid van Engelen have worked together sinds 1998. Both studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy for fine arts and design in Amsterdam, although not simultaneously. Niels Klavers had just started the initial Niels Klavers label right after winning the Grand Prix at the Festival International des Arts de la Mode in Hyères in the south of France – we remember his window display at Colette with this bizarre jacket featuring multiple sleeves – and went on to get his master degree at Fashion Institute Arnhem in ’99.
