The Hopi Indians believe that after death the body takes the form of a cloud, and the clothes in which their mortal remains are burried, turn into rain. This in turn, falls down from the cloud and ensures the fertility of their barren land.
What do the clothes of departed loved ones mean to us? How can they take on a new dimension after our death? Entitled “The person you love is 72.8% water”, Elisabeth Claes’ collection speaks of death and the ephemeral nature of human relationships in general. She reconciles fashion and art by alternating costumes and scenic structures. This collection is in part inspired by myths, personal symbols, intuition and premonitions.
